Our story

Aerotech Aviation was founded in 2007 by Doug Frix, a former airline captain and Civil Air Patrol search-and-rescue pilot. Doug set out to break down the high cost of learning to fly while delivering structured, safety-focused, and genuinely flexible FAA Part 61 instruction.

We're based at South Valley Regional Airport (KSVR) in West Jordan, Utah — one of the best training environments in the country. Flying in the Salt Lake City area exposes students to busy Class Bravo radar operations, towered airfields, and real mountain terrain. Our graduates leave as some of the most proficient, adaptable pilots anywhere, having trained where the flying is challenging and the airspace is real.

Since 2007 we've maintained a perfect safety record and a 100% FAA checkride pass rate — every student who has completed our program has passed. We keep our pricing transparent and our schedules flexible, because the two biggest reasons people quit flight training are cost and inconvenience, and we refuse to let either stop you.

"If you're not having fun, you're not learning. Safety is our foundation, but a passion for the sky is what keeps our students climbing." — Doug Frix, Owner & Founder
